Senior Project Manager / Building Code and Zoning Specialist
Karolina Castro has worked as a project manager in consulting and expediting firms for seven years. Her experience includes reviewing architectural, structural, mechanical, energy, and other plans for building code and zoning law compliance; analyzing property data to determine available floor area, height, and other zoning characteristics; preparing plan/work and permit applications for NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), Landmarks Preservation Commission, Fire Department of New York, Department of Transportation, and Department of Finance; and maintaining communication with DOB plan examiners and borough commissioners. At KM Associates, she has handled permit applications for both new buildings and major conversions, including a 14-story new building on Lexington Avenue, a 27-story Alt-1 conversion for WeWork/WeLive, and a police precinct in the Bronx.
Karolina was awarded a women’s volleyball scholarship from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, where she served as team captain. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in economics, and is fluent in spoken and written Polish.
